RoofQuilt
RoofQuilt is the only non invasive method of insulating difficult spaces such as pitched roofs whilst preserving ventilation
What is it?

RoofQuilt is the only solution that can be retrofitted which allows the insulation of the area between a pitch roof and a ceiling whilst maintaining a ventilation gap in accordance with cold roof principles.

Why is it worth installing?

If you live on a certain type of house which has sloped ceilings reflecting the other side of the outside roof then you are losing a lot of heat in those areas. You are losing much more heat than you think because when those houses were built no insulation was installed and there is only a layer of plasterboard between you and the outside world.

Typically, ex local authority houses of a certain age have a slope in the ceilings of the first floor. These houses are usually about 6 metres wide and the slope is about 800mm so there is a sloped area that isn’t insulated of 9.6 square metres on the house.

This area has very large heat losses because there is only plasterboard between you and the outside and the losses can be calculated as follows:

The below example assumes that it’s freezing cold outside and you are maintaining a temperature of 20 degrees inside.

0.2 x 9.6 x (20 / 0.0125) = 3,072 watts an hour or 3.072 kilowatts an hour or 3 gas units an hour or £0.30p an hour in gas.

After fitting RoofQuilt the thermal losses are transformed because the gap can be insulated.

Losses would be as follows:

0.033 x 9.6 x (20 / 0.05) = 126.72 watts. That’s over a 95% saving in heat losses and energy losses through the area concerned.

Can any other product do the same thing?

No.
